Presidential Directive (HSPD) 20, National Continuity Policy was released on IT Contingency Planning is an integral part of comprehensive Continuity of Operations Plan and Program that must parallel in development and maintenance to eliminate single points of failure. Our goal is to develop and maintain a viable and executable Federal government IT Contingency Plans and Continuity of Operations Plans that will provide for attaining mission essential operational capability with 24 hours and sustaining operations for up to 30 days or longer as outlined in DoD Directive 3020.26 and instruction, Federal Continuity Directive 1&2, National Continuity Program; NIST Special Publication 800-30 & 34, Contingency Planning Guide for Information Technology Systems; and OMB Circular A-130, Management of Federal Information Resources. Our approach incorporates developed/existing facility and organizational continuity of operations and telecommunications plans. Our Team will provide technical assistance in reviewing plans, maintaining current publications and reference material, training/exercise development, calendar updates, and overall Mission Assurance Program Support. Our staff will also provide site maintenance for mission critical systems. It is understood that some critical operational capabilities be “brought on line” immediately with a scalable approach to establishing mission critical functions for any emergency event. The IT contingency plan will be reviewed, updated, tested and evaluated on a pre-determined basis to ensure the Federal Government or a private sector organization can continue its essential functions across a broad spectrum of emergencies with minimal interruptions. |
